Michael Clay Thompson
A comprehensive language arts curriculum unlike any other, this system incorporates grammar, vocabulary, writing, poetics to challenge learners to dive deeper into the language. This complete curriculum takes students on a challenging yet accessible journey into 7 levels of grammar, vocabulary, writing and poetics with the end goal of creating a confident writer and reader. Michael Clay Thompson designed all the textbooks and incorporates art instead of cartoons. He employs soft colors and friendly text formats to enhance and stimulate the learners in a creative way. Michael Clay Thompson has over 30 years of experience of teaching, and quoted that "Language is the core of all content." He is passionate about providing gifted students with a resource to uplift their love of English language and literature. Parents have a teacher manual to go along and provoke discussion from the lessons in the student's book. There are five sections per level: grammar, vocabulary, writing, poetics and literature. While grammar can stand alone, the subjects are best taught together. This is a great resources for parents to learn and love the language as well. The teacher manuals help follow and guide the students through the lesson. The best use of this curriculum is through dialogue and discussion. This system veers away from rote memorization. Some parents may find that this learning style is too hands-on and involves more preparation than time would allow them.
