Vocabulary Virtuoso from The Critical Thinking Co.
Each level of Vocabulary Virtuoso focuses on integrating vocabulary lists with other disciplines to make learning meaningful and contextualized. Vocabulary Virtuoso incorporates an interdisciplinary approach to learning and uses a variety of activities and challenging words to engage the learner. It was developed by The Critical Thinking Company, which focuses on helping students learn by identifying and evaluating evidence to guide their decision-making. Vocabulary Virtuoso increases vocabulary through the use of a variety of exercises (crosswords, fill in the blanks in stories, word scrambles) requiring critical reading and writing skills to contextualize the real-life words. Parents love that it is an open and go program that incorporates a wide variety of challenging and interdisciplinary activities to keep their students motivated to learn and then apply their learning in the real world. Some parents mentioned that the added the step of having their children write down the words and corresponding definitions for more reinforcement. Some students disliked the story completion activity.
