“HUGS | SF (Homeschoolers+Unschoolers Group Support) HUGS | SF began as one parent dedicated to building community in the homeschooling & unschooling community. As a member of various homeschooling & unschooling communities/ groups in the Bay Area, they started a new group and play day out of necessity with what worked with their family's life.
HUGS is an inclusive all ages, babies to adults, play day that honors diversity in all its forms and expressions, seeks to find commonalities, and provides support for families wherever they are in their exploration of homeschooling and unschooling. HUGS is being created to be a community built face to face. Based in San Francisco, the vision for HUGS is to build community with families and children of all stripes, colors, and persuasions, who are either interested in or new to homeschooling & unschooling, or established in a homeschooling or unschooling life, and also to connect other homeschooling and unschooling communities in the greater Bay Area.
The intention for HUGS Friday play day is to be a thriving gathering of diverse ages and peoples where community members actively participate by attending regularly or volunteer to be a play day greeter or volunteer hosting/ facilitating activities/ crafts/ clubs/ skill sharing within the HUGS play day itself. Let's connect, cross pollinate, collaborate, and co-create!
Homeschoolers/ Unschoolers/ Life learners/ Self Directed Humans are invited to join and socialize, connect, ask questions, support one another on the path of not going to school, share knowledge, wisdom, and resources, and most importantly- build community in person and beyond with respect & kindness with regards to homeschooling styles, race, gender, sexuality, religious beliefs, philosophical beliefs or simply differences we may come to discover about one another. Games, workshops, playshops, presentations, activities, casual or serious topical talks are all welcome and encouraged! Want to volunteer, host, or have an idea?
