The Best Homeschool Programs of 2022

For families looking for a complete, comprehensive homeschool program, there are so many wonderful options available!

These programs are specifically designed for parents and caregivers, secular and pedagogically sound.

They are based on scientific understanding (climate change is real and we evolved into the species we are today)

They also stand out for their progressive and inclusive literature and social studies programs.

Most families find it only takes 1-2 hours a day stay at (or way above) grade level and the rest of the homeschool day can be spent on electives, meetups or classes.

In terms of pedagogy, we favored programs that were mastery based, project-based and fostered critical thinking through socratic-style inquiry.

PreK-Elementary

  1. Blossom and Root (PreK-5th): An eclectic, nature-based curriculum designed by a teacher. This program is the perfect choice for the screen-sensitive parent whose child thrives in the outdoors. Parents rave about their science, history and art units.

  2. Torchlight Curriculum (PreK-5th): A brilliant, literature-based curriculum created by a teacher with something for every learner (audio and visual components),

  3. Khan Academy Kids (PreK-2nd): A free, adaptive learning app that will adjust your child’s curriculum as they go.

All grades

  1. Magic Forest Academy (PreK-12th grades): A beautiful, nature-based curriculum for PreK-12th grades.

  2. Critical Thinking Company (PreK-12th): A more traditional, work-book based curriculum designed to foster critical thinking skills, as the name suggests.

  3. Khan Academy: Beloved by families around the world, this free online curriculum makes it easy for any family to teach their child or kids to teach themselves.
