CogAt
The CogAt is a multiple choice group administered assessment focusing on verbal, quantitative and non-verbal questions that is commonly used for admittance into gifted and talented programs. This assessment is given by a group proctor (generally a guidance counselor) in a panel of three batteries, either online or with paper and pencil. This assessment was created by Riverside Insights. CogAt assessments focus on the student demonstrating cognitive abilities that research have associated with academic success and include the ability to reason and problem solving through the use of verbal, quantitative and spatial methods. This assessment is a good choice for families looking to apply for gifted and talented programs. This assessment does not provide any insights into what a student has already learned or mastered.
